The adult sized bikes on the market are too big for him. There are not many 24 inch fixies out there so my choices were limited. I did a google search and voila, this is the bike that came up. The price is right especially when you compare to prices I found in some local bike shops. My son is really pleased with the bike and his friends at school are really jealous... There is a flip/flop hub on the back and you can change it to from a fixie to a coaster. It was simple to assemble and only took about 20 min. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Why Not!, By This review is from: Takara Blacktop Fixie Bike (24-Inch Wheels) (Sports) I live in Boston and ride all year - yes we use lots of salt in the winter - I spend on a traditional bike (i.e. the fancy one with gears and disc brakes...and shocks) north of $300 per year at my bike shop - amazing that a replacement wheel and chain can cost more than this bike! So this is a great bike (bikemania is a little cheaper). Just know you need some metric allen wrenches and if it lasts a year, then you have the ultimate disposable bike .... but I think with so few movable parts and a life time guarantee on the frame you do-it-your-selfers will be able to not only save the planet but also a lot of dollars!PS ... People do notice you on this bike ... lots of positive comments! |
